Job Title: Financial Accountant
About the Role:
The Financial Accountant is a critical member of our Head Office team, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. This role involves the day-to-day management of the Accounting Function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare year-end accounts and assist in the development of business/financial plans as required.
* Review and update accounting procedures and controls regularly, working closely with the finance team to implement improvements.
* Develop and maintain effective systems for financial management, including budgetary control.
* Ensure the accuracy of financial reports for weekly and monthly management meetings.
* Oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable systems, including the preparation of control accounts for debtors, bank, and creditors.
* Evaluate and improve internal controls to prevent errors and ensure each team member is adequately trained.
* Submit monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory returns on time.
* Collaborate with restaurants and shops, providing analysis and support as needed.
* Verify the reconciliation of all bank accounts and implement systems for reconciling Balance Sheet accounts.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for auditors and prepare audit files.
* Lead the training and development of team members.
* Maintain processes to verify lodgments and credit card receipts against bank statements, investigating any discrepancies.
* Respond to queries from other Finance Team members.
* Be adaptable in using alternative accounting systems and provide assistance to other areas of the business.
* Monitor team performance, motivating them to stay focused on their tasks.
* Perform additional duties and projects that benefit the company.
